Punditry is the journalistic equivalent to the newspaper astrology column. Punditry doesn’t have to be right, it’s just gotta be entertaining and provide comfort for those who need to believe easily digestible bullshit.

I think that's just about perfect.

Yep, sounds about right. - providing the "easily digestible" part means its also agreeable to the reader intellectual bent (or lack thereof.)

We do. But 1)we are not paid representatives of a professional news outlet; 2) we recognize that we are op-ed columnists of our own opinion rags with readership limited to people who mostly think like us and a few irritating contrarians.
