Getting slammed this week at work, plus freelance at night. Since I'm going to pressed for time, here are some quick links of some stuff I've been meaning to write about...
Must-Read Post of the Week: Responding to the hysteria after the London Terror Bust, Kung Fu Monkey absolutely nails it.
Don't Believe the Hype Olbermann lays out the Administration's history of using terror alerts for political purposes.
NASA records 'Survivor' over lunar landing tapes. Well, not really. But they can't seem to find the original recording of the first moon landing, including astronaut Neil Armstrong's famous "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Anybody want to come over and catch a little "Capricorn One"? [h/t Pierce]
Slate: "Tigers Burning Kind of Bright" Feature on my adopted team, the Tigers. Includes the quote of the week: "That's when the team with the majors' best record started falling apart like a Buick built on the first day of deer season."
Slate: What Happened to Lieberman Is Not a Trend Tomasky explains how the Dems are not really purging anybody but Holy Joe.
Safe to Fantasize! MLB's evil, greedy plan to prevent fantasy leagues from using player names and stats strikes out in court.
Mel Gibson, Evil, and Art The best thing I read on l'affaire Crazyheart.
John Mark Karr? Let's see... Lee Harvey Oswald, John Wilkes Booth, John Wayne Gacy, Henry Lee Lucas, Mark David Chapman…Three names slams the door for me. Guilty.

I've marveled at the inate stupidity that was the MLB fantasy lawsuit...Let's see....millions of fans watching highlights, box scores, sports magazines....all pimping the league, getting people in Manchester, Vermont (who should be in bed) excited about a 10:15 pm game between SD and LA...and they want to shut it down.
Just how fucking stupid are these idiots? All I can picture are a bunch of 55+ year-old stiffs whose sole Internets interaction is checking email and who think an Ipod is an alien landing craft.
Seriously...whomever decided to sue needs to be bitch-slapped repeatedly, as they ALMOST ruined the sport for milllions...
Exactly. Short-sighted, greedy motherfuckers. Fantasy baseball might be the best thing that's happened to that sport in a generation. Free promotion, excitement and advertising, and it's not good enough for those bastards.
Re: the full-name thing, including middle name.
Most of those infamous people didn't go through life giving their names that way or expecting others to. The three-name thing is taught to journalists, as a way to avoid, say, a Lee Harold Oswald or a Lee (no middle initial) Oswald from being mistaken for the Lee Harvey Oswald who shot JFK.
Actually, what's taught in J-school is to use the middle initial where possible. But in the really heinous, high-profile cases upping the ante to full middle name use seems to be standard practice, probably on the advice of media attorneys.
What SWA said about the names.
But don't forget John David Stutts.
Sheesh, that's amazing, O.M. I didn't even know SNL transcripts were available online.
In any case, it was fun to read.
