"Yeeeeaaaarrrrrrgghhhhhh!!!"

Simple, sober and convincing. Nice job, Chairman.

I could live without the "moral leadership in the world" crap, but otherwise, good stuff.

Actually, Mike, I like the moral leadership phrase, as well as the national security phrase.

In terms of morality, It's not so much about an Evangelical moral absolutism. It's about actually pointing-out, publicly, that tax cuts for rich people and many other Republican mantras are actually immoral practices. Morality isn't just about blow jobs. It's about holding people indefinitely in prison. It's about lying to get your way. It's a new morality; one that takes a global stance, not an Evangelical Christian stanec and then turns its back on it.

For similar reasons, I like the pieces about national security. National security hinges on making decisions that bring support our way, not force support our way. But national security is more than that: it's jobs, it's higher wages, it's manufacturing American products again, it's not shipping jobs overseas. That is as much National Security...relying on ourselves to be great agaian...than anything we do in the Mid East or elsewhere.

Smitty-

I assumed Dean-o wasn't talking about that bullshit, GOP talking points sort of morality. I like Dean, so I didn't mean that.

I meant that I'd like to see American officials (Dem and GOP) worry less about "world leadership" of any kind, and focus on getting out own house in order: economically, governmentally, societally.

To the degree Dean's talking about that on the home front, I'm cool with it.

Mike:

Got it. Not so much being a "beacon of light" to everyone else, but making sure our beacon to ourselves is...uh...even turned ON before we go shining it everywhere else.

Where I got that analogy, I don't know. But it can go away. Now.

Truly excellent bit of insight, that. As they say in Congress, I applaud those remarks and wish to associate myself with them.
