Another installment of Hitler Subtitle Theatre...
Alas, to my eternal art direction shame I once used Zapf Chancery ALL-CAPS. It was on a theater poster in college...the play was “AS YOU LIKE IT.”
The fact that Parker Posey was in that play only compounds my sin—it would make it something interesting to hang the wall, but it’s so damn ugly!

These clips will never get old.
Zapf Chancery all-caps. For shame, young man! For shame!
I know, I know! I even let Hitler down!
[hangs head]
Wait...wait...you went to school with Parker Posie??
Yeah. I went to the State Univ of New York's art school—SUNY Purchase. It was right outside NYC and had a fantastic film program and acting conservatory...
Posey was definitely the biggest success from the people that were there when I was. The graphic design department was small, and so was the theater dept. We had to collaborate with them on posters, programs, etc. I had to interact with her a few times. She was pretty cool—many of the theater people were pretty snobby.
She lived around the corner from me (with Sherry Stringfield), and we knew each other enough to say hi, but that's about it.
If you ever saw her old movies (Party Girl, The Daytrippers) she's pretty much playing herself straight. That's really how she dressed and acted...
Not as famous, but someone I knew much better was Seth Gilliam (Sgt. Ellis Carver on The Wire). He played on my softball team.
Most of the other actors stuck in New York on stage or are more supporting types. They are the type of people who constantly show up as cops, perps or lawyers on dramas filmed in the city or the east coast. Quite a few guested on Homicide—which starred Purchase alum Melissa Leo.
My constant need to point out "hey, that guy went to Purchase!" when watching tv or movies drives Mrs F crazy.
