With Tom Daschle officially humiliated into withdrawing his nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services, I hope the following sentence is overheard in the Oval Office...
"Somebody get me Howard Dean on the phone."

That would seem like a good choice. Dean certainly has the smarts for the job, but does he have too much baggage?
I like Dean to be a public advocate for serious health care reform—and in that role, call people out. But, I think he's too abrasive to shepherd anything through Congress personally. He's an outsider, and has probably made enemies. Somebody like Daschle is better-suited for that task.
Yeah, Obama owes Dean big time and Rickey was shocked to see there hasn't been a place reserved for him in the cabinet. Enough with the Clintonian neoliberals already...
