The Daily Lie

I should have started this weeks ago...

Every day for the rest of the campaign, I'm going to give you one of the brazen lies of John McCain or Sarah Palin. The hard part will be choosing which one...Let's kick it off with this one:

Prove it, you lying asshole. Video? Audio? Hell, even a still photo or pencil sketch?

Yeah, that's what I thought...

What an asshole.

Prove it or shut up.

If he can prove it, I will e-mail the Obama campaign daily until Obama also repudiates it.

So, what, you don't imagine Obama rallies have their own kooks?

Here's a prominent Obama supporter trashing the whole country. That should about cover it.

The well organized, media tight Obama campaign won't give us any overt indications of what they really think. More likely we'll get the knock on the door by the newly re-educated authorities.

You give me an example of anything even approaching the McCain rallies at an Obama event and then there might be a discussion to have. so far neither you, nor anybody else on the right has come up with anything.

Your irrelevant YouTube clip was not at an Obama event, and had absolutely nothing with Obama's campaign for POTUS.

And last I checked, Wright was not even supporting Obama. Nor was Obama present when those remarks were made—something neither McCain nor Palin can claim.

And for the record, Wright was NOT trashing the whole country. He was—correctly—pointing out the atrocious history of the American government's treatment of Native Americans, African Americans and other actions around the world...

He used language easily turned against him when viewed out of context, but when it is viewed in total, and without the histrionics, I don't have much disagreement with what he said.

Examples of negative campaigning that doesn’t cross the line:

Obama: “John McCain thinks our economy has made great progress under George W. Bush? How could somebody who has been traveling across this country, somebody who came to Erie, Pennsylvania, say we’ve made great progress?”

McCain: Republican John McCain accused Democrat Barack Obama of inexperience and reckless judgment for saying Iran does not pose the same serious threat to the United States as the Soviet Union did in its day. McCain said, "Such a statement betrays the depth of Senator Obama's inexperience and reckless judgment. These are very serious deficiencies for an American president to possess."

Obama: ”We talked about the economy for 40 minutes, and not once did Sen. McCain talk about the struggles that middle class families are facing every day," Obama said at a campaign event in Detroit, Michigan.

Even Ayres is fair game, if done a bit more ethically.

Examples that DO cross the line:
Palin: "Our opponent ... is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country... This is not a man who sees America as you see America and as I see America."

Palin: Obama “launched his political career in the living room of a domestic terrorist.”

McCain: McCain asks the crowd “Who is the real Barack Obama?” Someone then cries out “Terrorist!”

Lee County, Florida Sherriff, who in full uniform refers to Obama as “Barack Hussein Obama” (as he is introducing Palin at a rally in Florida.)

If these were isolated nuts, it would be one thing, but the above statements all happened in a coordinated effort by the candidates or their direct surrogates. What followed was some crazy comments from the audience that were not repudiated by the campaign.

How can you not see the difference in this type of campaigning?

What is he, five? That sounds like a kid on the playground, "But he did it, too...but....but..."

Can't he man up and say it was wrong? Even if it happened at an Obama rally (which it probably didn't) can't he feign disgust?

It'd better if he really WAS disgusted, but doesn't he know that he should at least FAKE it?! Come on...

I see your brainwashing is complete and you are now inflicting your limited view on the rest of us. America's treatment of others is better than almost any other nation when discussing strong-weak culture clash.

>>>>and had absolutely nothing to do with Obama's campaign for POTUS.

Obama identified Wright as a seminal influence. If you are happy with this, go ahead and vote Obama. Some of us expect better.

It looks like Obama's campaign events are scripted tighter than McCain's. Expect blander events in the future. When we are all scrubbed clean, would you have any gumption left to confront these lovely people?

You mean the Canadians in the article? Sure, lets invade Canada too, why the hell not.

Exactly, rightsaidfred, which is why it is even worse when we do absolutely mistreat people here. Your statement excuses our own internal struggles with race and class by saying "gee, it's not so bad we did all that to black people since it's WAY better than they would get elsewhere." No! You said it yourself: we expect better. When you have a bar as high as we say ours is, then you damn well bet we act indignant and demand better action.

When we are all scrubbed clean, would you have any gumption left to confront these lovely people?

Uh...dude...that was in Montreal. Montreal, FYI, is in Canada. Not the U.S. So I'll leave it to the Canadians to police their own shit.

This Sunday past, July 30, there was a pro-Hezbollah rally in Montreal.

Smitty, Bob, don't you know that Obama's Secret Muslim Weatherman Training™ knows no borders? Canada, U.S., they'll ALL be part of the caliphate!

Wright's point is that America goes around patting itself on the back about how "exceptional" we are, and that we are so much better than "Such-and-such" country, when we had some serious fucking issues here at home not that long ago. Some of which still exist or still have residue.

My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right.

When they are shouting death to America, I take notice no matter where they are.

I initially was going to link to a rally in Lebanon. The point is that if you are concerned about shouts at a rally, maybe you could consider re-prioritizing some of your fury towards those who are a more material threat.

I thought pointing to this rally in Montreal would bring it closer to home that liberal democracies, like Europe and Canada, pretty much just cave when confronted with extreme Islam.

You too, rightsaidfred. Same to you. For the same reason.

Yeah, my side has its clinic bombers and others. But sometimes it's good to have a dog that bites.

Oh, so it's okay to have bombers, as long as they're your bombers???

That's fucking disgusting, and you're unAmerican.

Mr Furious said...

Your side's clinic bombers = dog that bites.

Guy who set casualty-free bombs forty years ago = threat to civilization as we know it today.

Just want to make sure I'm keeping score correctly.

No No No. Don't misunderstand me so completely.

I must be more careful in posting.

I am deeply against clinic bombers. But we need people who can successfully organize and carry out violent actions (who wouldn't be clinic bombers anyway) and a big chunk of those people are on the right, who are bitter and clinging to their guns.

I want to apologize for that clinic bomber line. It was kind of weird.
