Brrrrrrrr

I just finished an assignment, it's late, I'm beat, and it is goddamned cold out. The last thing I want to do right now is walk the dog. I hope he can hold it...

Here in the winter-trashed NW, we just endured a vicious month of really ugly stuff, ending, mercifully, just a few days ago. During that siege, if it wasn't burying us in snow, it was trying to turn us into human Popsicles. We got down to zero, too. And, for the first time in a dozen years, the city's schools all closed — for a solid week. The city had to hire private contractors and rent road-clearing equipment to cope.

Even though the weather has taken a turn for the milder and we've gotten a break from the steady succession of snowstorms, a bout of strong winds caused drifting three days ago that resulted in all the roads in the southern third of my county being closed until further notice. Good luck to the poor people who can't get home from their jobs.

Now, we've got milder temperatures and the big melt off is beginning.
This brings us the possibility of flooding and the inevitability of potholes breaking out like red spots on a kid who's got chickenpox.

Winter probably has some benefit but I'm at a loss to think of what it might be.

Guess I shouldn't mention it's in the 60s and 70s here. We have a cold front going through tonight. High temps for tomorrow are in the mid 60s...
