Galloping to a Lead

I don't remember the numbers, but on the radio I heard Gallop had Obama opening up big leads in the "key" swing states...something along the lines of an 8-point lead in Ohio and Florida and 15 in PA. That's big news because they are key electoral states, but also areas he was supposed to struggle.

As evidenced by those swings, a lot can change in a short amount of time, but I see this looking increasingly difficult for McCain to stage a comeback on his own. He has damaged his own image severely over the last couple weeks, and I don't think Palin is going to do anything to help his cause...

I'm really hoping she's a train wreck on Thursday night. Is that wrong? Hmm... if it is, I don't wanna be right.

Bob from over at my place posted this from Real Clear Politics about the current electoral breakdown. RCP takes all the polls, partisan, press, etc., and finds a way to essentially average them.

The result right now: Obama/Biden 348; McCain/Palin 190.

As one of Rickey's favorite bloggers would say: "fuck and yes."

Again, I don't want to get ahead of myself...this could change in a heartbeat. But what HAS changed is I don't think it will be of McCain's choosing—it will take an outside force to change the race now.

maybe, or there's the possibility that the GOP could dredge up old news such the Reverend Wright nonsense. In fact we can pretty much bank on that.

I'm not counting Florida yet. McCain's family used to live right here in the Jacksonville area when he was a POW (you did know he's been a POW, right?). Although I have seen more Obama yard signs and stickers than I ever saw for Kerry.

Would that be the family he tossed to the curb for Cindy's long legs and money?

Dear Mr. McCain:

Bye-bye! Sayonara! Bon Voya-gee!

Love,

Michigan

538 has Florida leaning blue and so does Electoral-Vote. We're counting on you to vote twice if necessary :-)

And with McCain backing out of Michigan, he has to win OH and FL in most scenarios to win. So go vote in OH as well :)
