Withdrawal

Her opening statement during the hearing with Gen. Petraeus. It's very good.

It was good. I'm still not ready to support her....but yeah, she made great points and did them well.

I won't go into what I think she said right, because 1) it's preaching to the choir; and 2) I agree pretty much with everything she said.

But in terms of critique...there's not much to critique. Yup. She said "time to get th fuck out" about as well and eloquently as I could imagine.

I'm nodding along with Smitty.

If only she'd heed her own advice...

Seriously? Good job. Though I suspect this is political posturing more than a prediction of policy. It is in her interest to oppose the War now, and is even trying to out-opposition Obama lately.

I would expect a certain amount of reversal if she were to become President.

But for now, credit where due.

I salute you all for giving credit where due. I had the impression Furious and friends are all so down on HRC, the only thing she could get credit for would be quitting the race and moving to another continent until late January '09.

Her statement was excellent. I'm not so sure about her going back on it if elected, although I recognize the possibility. I think she gets it that people have had it with the Iraq war, period, no matter who is in the White House.

The opening statement I was most taken with was Sen. Carl Levin's. It set the stage for the hearing, excellently laying out what's wrong. I put his whole statement in a post, if anyone wants to read it verbatim.

The quality of Hillary's statement and some of the other senatorial statements seems to be quite a cut above the granstanding, tired crap we get from the House hearings.
